Reading Month

This month is the launch of Reading Month at Copthorne. There will be lots of exciting activities throughout March including World Book Day and Read-a-thon.

We want you to let us know about a book you just can’t put down or have read it so many times that the book is wearing out. You must explain why this is your favourite book.

Mr. Rizvi and Mr. Sandhu.

My favourite book is Percy Jackson and the Lightening Thief. It centres around a boy called about Percy Jackson, he is the son of Poseidon: God of the seas. The book follows him on his wild adventures. I’ve seen the movies which really complement the book.

My favourite book is Gangster Granny because it is really exciting in
parts. The author is David Walliams and I would give this book is 5 star review.
It is written in the 3rd person and it has some really interesting and exciting twists. It is both funny and sad in equal measure.

It’s great to see hear about the books that you love to read and why. My favourite book is Tess of the Durbervilles by Thomas Hardy. It tells the story of Tess Durbeyfield, a very innocent girl from a poor family, who is sent away from home to help her family escape from poverty. Unfortunately, things do not go well for Tess. Although the story is quite a sad one it is so beautifully written and has so much to teach us about life that it is well worth the read.

If you are looking for a great children’s book I can recommend Roald Dahl’s Revolting Rhymes. I just love the way he has turned a number of traditional tales upside down or given them a brilliant twist. I never tire of reading them and they will be my choice for the story telling sessions during Book Week.

If I had to choose my most favourite book, it would have to be ‘Rebel’ by R J Anderson. I can never put it down! Ever since I got it, it’s the only thing I ever read. My sister has always wanted to read it so I consider myself rather lucky! It includes all the things I love; either my hobbies or the things I basically just love. Whenever I read it, I always picture myself actually being there, that’s how powerful the description is. During the book, it changes your mood from either being sad or happy to being curious and nosy.

I would rate this book a 5* plus.

  8. R Rizvi says:

My favourite book is ‘To Kill A Mockingbird’ by Harper Lee. It’s my comfort book! Eventhough I read this book when I was 9, I have read this book at least once a year since. I actively encourage others to read this book. The version that I have is actually my mother’s and she read this book when she was a child. It tackles really tough themes like racism and discrimination which were very taboo at that time. It made me aware, from a young age, the effects of racism and discrimination against people with mental health issues. The whole book is in the first person, narrated by Scout Finch and we go on a journey of discovery with her.

I love this book and give it a 5* rating!
